The Night Rating allows the pilot to fly the aircraft at night in good weather conditions.
The requirements to obtain a night rating is as follows:
Hold a valid PPL
You must undergo at least 10hrs of Instrument Instruction
5hrs may be done on an approved FSTD (Flight Simulation Training Device)
Not less than 5 take-offs and landings by night, whilst under dual instruction, must be completed
A triangular dual night cross-country of at least 150nm
A theoretical knowledge examination must be written (pass mark of 75%)
A flight test with a Grade I or II instructor must be passed
